About Lucan's Coaching Approach

Lucan Pipkin is an experienced and certified coach, consultant, facilitator, and trainer. She has nearly 25 years of experience leading change in organizations, engaging teams and stakeholders to maximize their energy and contribution, and developing leaders to achieve their full potential.  In her coaching practice she specializes in bringing a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to supporting her clients in balancing their desire for achievement and contribution and the importance of creating space to be physically and mentally healthy and fully enjoy their life, relationships, and creative endeavors. Lucan works with leaders and individuals to clarify their personal visions and values, tap into their unique strengths and vital intuition, resolve internal debates or questions, and define an inspiring and achievable plan as well as simple practices and tools to achieve it. Skill-building in Leadership, Emotional and Somatic Intelligence

Lucan works to support individuals in developing balance, presence, confidence and power as well as skills in articulating vision, leading change, decision-making, empathetic communication, difficult conversations, giving and receiving feedback, among others relevant to the challenges at hand. Key to developing these skills is building awareness of the relationship between our brain, body, and emotions. Lucan leverages a mindfulness and somatic technique called Inner Relationship Focusing to support this awareness building and behavior change.

Lucan works to build self-awareness around one’s strengths and blindspots through assessments, observation, and feedback and provide a trusted, safe environment to be open, curious, take risks, and try new things. She meets you where you are and can support you in troubleshooting your day-to-day challenges both in your work and life with an eye towards achieving your desired outcomes. She supports you in building the ability to integrate and sustain the behavior change necessary to reveal the strength of your unique style.

Coaching Training, Tools, and Credentials

Lucan holds a degree in Human and Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University and has been practicing as an organizational development consultant, facilitator, trainer, and coach across the public, non-profit, and private sectors for over 20 years.

As an ICF certified coach, Lucan maintains the ethics and standards of behavior established by the ICF. (Coachfederation.org/ethics)
She has completed over 300 hours of coaching training including the ACTP ICF-certified rigorous, year-long New Ventures West Integral Coaching certification program dedicated to helping people be simultaneously more effective and fulfilled in their lives. She is also a Certified Focusing Professional and Trainer with extensive training and experience in Inner Relationship Focusing, a technique for facilitating individual change through somatic and emotional awareness and connection based on the work and teachings of Eugene Gendlin and Ann Weiser Cornell.
Lucan has also completed the six-month Neuroscience of Change training focused on neuroscientific coaching techniques backed by research and taught by leading experts: Amanda Blake, Ann Betz, Richard Boyatzis, Dan Siegel, Rick Hansen, Shinzen Young.

Coaching Offerings

It is recommended that coaching engagements be a minimum of 3 months with a recommendation of 6 months. After completion of the initial engagement, additional coaching sessions can be committed to in bulk or scheduled oneoff as needed  

A coaching engagement includes: 

  • An intake and assessment process including: 1.5 hour intake session, assessment (360, Enneagram, Strengths Finder, DISC or other of your choice), program development including goals and practices to support development, and 6-12 bi-weekly one-hour coaching sessions 
  • Coach is available for email check-in between sessions as needed. 
  • A safe space and support over time in building self-awareness, gaining insight, developing skills, and working towards a set of goals and outcomes. 

Additionally, retreats are an option for any client that wishes to devote a more intensive amount of time to reflection, visioning and planning, skill-building, self-care, and/or deep level inner work. Retreats can be customized to any length of time including 2 hours, half day, full day, multi-day or even a series based on the outcomes that the client would like to achieve.
